For claimants.
Plain English about your records and your rights.
If your case involves a personal injury claim, your medical records may be reviewed using AI-assisted technology by the medical expert preparing your report. This page explains what that means in plain English.
Notora Med is one such tool. It does not replace the doctor or surgeon writing your report. It helps them work through the records faster, with every detail traceable back to the original document. The expert remains in charge of every conclusion in your report.
What data goes where.
The records used in your case stay within UK borders. They are processed on infrastructure based in London, encrypted while moving across the internet and encrypted again while stored. They are not used to train AI systems. They are not shared with anyone outside the legal and medical professionals working on your case.
When your case is concluded, the records are retained only as long as the agreement between Notora Med and the agency or expert instructed on your case requires. After that, they are deleted.
Your rights under UK GDPR.
You have specific rights as a data subject under UK GDPR. In plain English:
- The right to access. You can ask for a copy of the personal data being held about you.
- The right to deletion. You can ask for that data to be deleted, subject to ongoing legal obligations.
- The right to object. You can object to certain types of processing of your personal data.
- The right to lodge a complaint. If you believe your data has been mishandled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
In most cases, these requests should go through the solicitor or agency holding your file, since they are the data controller for your case. We support those requests and can provide information directly if needed.
AI does not write your medical report.
The expert remains in charge.
AI does not give an opinion on causation, on prognosis, or on what your case is worth.
The medical expert appointed to your case reads, edits, and signs every section of the report that goes to court. The expert's name appears on the document. The expert's professional duty to the court is unchanged. AI accelerates the records review behind the scenes; it does not change who is responsible for the conclusions.
